Ubud, Bali: travel guide

When I first arrived to Ubud back in April 2025 I thought to myself, I do not get the hype. But after spending 4 days here and hearing my friend Laura had an amazing 2 weeks here. I thought: this might be the perfect place to spend some time, working, relaxing and learning. I came back and had the best time here. Whenever I stay somewhere longer I tend to meet lovely souls and have the best time.

When we were here in April we stayed at Mira family’s cottage. Which is very nice, it included breakfast, had a beautiful pool and was centrally located. Sharing with two people this was great (I was still with my friend). The owner was a funny men. It was very clean and the pool was amazing. The location was very central yet calm.

When I returned, I booked myself a little cabin to stay called Paradise Riverside Bungalows. Here I stayed for a whole month half July – half August. This place I created into my own sanctuary. The owner was lovely and helpful. The place was clean. A little bit outdated (as in some things broke but were fixed) , a bit of a strange cleaning men (where I had to put some boundaries) and the pool area was not super clean due to nature and many ants. I loved staying here, it became my home. The location for me was perfect, 5 min walk to some warungs and 30 min walk to the main center.

I returned again in the end of August to finish my time in Indonesia here. But I wanted a little bit more budget stay so I booked a place called: Tude Hostel Ubud. This place was also on the other end of the center.

Being in Ubud is like a personalized retreat: there are so many yoga classes, workshops and events happening every day. You can pick and choose.

My favorite things I did were sound healing, cacao ceremonies, oil making workshop, ecstatic dance. There are wonderful places for vegan and veggie food and good supermarkets and bakeries. I highlighted my absolute favorites.
