The legal prostitution in The Netherlands does actually not make is safe. There are some interesting documentaries on YouTube that explain the life of some of the prostitute.
50-80% of the woman are human trafficked from other countries. The pimps, the people who “own” the streets and create rules. There is lots of mafia and drugs.
It has become a tourist attraction in Amsterdam but in every city in NL there are these street(s) filled with windows and woman working. Some willingly but most not.
Even if some Dutch woman work there willingly, they usually end up there out of lack of options. Get stuck due to drug use or not being able to get another job.
