First I always thought I need to be better, I need to improve my yoga asana practice before I can teach.
But truly is that needed?
Yoga is so much more than asana practice. Asanas are the physical postures of yoga.
Who am I to teach I thought? After just a few months of training… while the teachers in India go to yoga university and study for years… or grow up with yoga since they are children.
I will never be able to compete with a teacher who studied for 5 years and practiced since they were 7 years old and it took some time to realize that that’s ok.
I saw a video where Kimi shared that unless everyone is meditating and even world leaders: there is a need for yoga teachers.
Yoga teachers of all types and kinds.
Yoga to me is about connecting to your body, calming down your mind and becoming a better person.
There are so many people reacting before thinking and pausing. So many people not mindful about themselves, others and our planet earth.
Teaching yoga is about holding space. About creating a class that calms people’s nervous system and support them in this journey we call life.
I am good in holding space, in creating a yoga sequence that incorporates nice asanas to support our body and open up space. To guide people through a concentration and pranayama (breathing) practice.
This is enough.
If you want to learn complex postures, find a teacher who is super good at that and let them bring you to another level in your asana practice.
If you want to feel good, calm, relaxed and connected to your body: come join one of my classes!
Hope to see you on the mat one day!!!
