My love for the medicine of mama cacao is deep. This medicine guided me back to my heart, brought me a lot of healing and gave me immense compassion.
While I am traveling in Colombia I got the opportunity to visit an eco friendly cacao farm. Where the owner recently moved (4 years before) to this area of Paso Del Mango in the Sierra Nevada close to Santa Marta.
He shared the process of the fruits of cacao, drying, peeling and in the end making it into a thick paste. This paste is usually 100% pure cacao, these blocks can be used for ceremonies. But you can also add some sugar and cinnamon to make it more sweet and turn it into chocolate.

Just to show you some photos of the process. It was magical to see how mama cacao grows the plants, bares the fruits and from this delicious fruits: the cacao paste comes to the earth.
He explains how the process of cacao is made and that if the cacao is organic the leaves and fruits won’t have this “perfect” look.
He shared that chocolate came from Mexico and Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela have 30% oil in the cacao that’s why it becomes a paste and not chocolate liquid.
As someone who sits with the medicine of mama cacao it’s amazing to visit a farm as this. I came back 3 times and I totally love it! Gracias!
