cacao at home

Cacao is such a sacred plant medicine. She is gentle and warm. A true heart opener. My first contact with her was back in 2021 – she helped me with forgiveness and opening of my heart.

When you purchase ceremonial cacao it is important to know that this medicine is cold pressed. The 100% pure cacao from the supermarket nibs is roasted cacao. Here the spirit of mama cacao is not inside. There are different places to purchase your cacao. Usually when you search online “ceremonial cacao” – you will find it.

There is a difference from Peruvian, Guatemalan, Ecuadorian or Bali cacao. In taste, in spirit.

When you purchase the cacao, either it is in small sizes or it is in a big block. For a daily dose you can use 15mg and for a ceremonial dose you can use 40mg. You can start with 15 and see how you feel, slowly increase the dosage.

Cut the cacao, mindfully. Play some medicine songs. Add it to some warm water or plant milk – 70 degrees is perfect or you might burn the qualities of the cacao. 150ml for your cup, but you can add more or less liquid depending on the thickness you prefer. You can add some spices or agave syrup if the taste is too bitter for you. Such as cinnamon, chili flakes or anything you like.

When you create your special cup, make sure to do it intentionally. When you sit with your cup, say your intention. Thank mama cacao. Relax and enjoy.

You can use medicine songs, slow movement, dancing, yoga – whatever feels aligned.
