Yama

Yama is the first limb in the eight limbs of ashtanga yoga. Yama are social rules, a discipline, a do not.

It include 5 vows
1. Ashimsa – non violence
2. Satya – truthfulness
3. Asteya – non stealing
4. Brahmacharya – celibacy or control of sexual instinct and emotions
5. Apari graha – non hoarding, non greed, non possessiveness

1. Ashimsa – non violence
Never think about violence. When we do an action it comes from the mind. If your mind does not give instruction. The fighting first comes into the mind.

1/3 of violence happens in a persons mind. When you have thoughts never think to harm. Not even think to harm chairs. Material things and living things.

Rude, dirt word -> harm and hurting someone. One tongue can break a 1000 bones.

Use kind words, sweet, polite words that can encourage others.

2. Satya – truthfulness
Do not lie. Be honest. Be true to yourself. Accept yourself. Acceptance. Be honest to yourself first. Self truth. Do not share with others unless you are convinced yourself. Trust yourself.

3. Asteya – non stealing
Taking without permission. Not steal others ideology. People are created once, unique, never was a you like this before and there will never be another you like this.

Do not copy people, it is stealing. You suppress your own ideas by others ideas. You peel others ideals, will be empty and the universe will send you your idea. You share with humans to better the world.

4. Brahmacharya – celibacy or control of sexual instinct and emotions
One universe, one energie. Share themselves as emotions. If we are able to control sexual emotions – we are able to control all emotions.

5. Apari graha – non hoarding, non greed, non possessiveness
Everyone has a right to life. When we keep taking natural resources -> the earth will die. If you can survive with one coat, no need to 10 pairs of shoes. If you can survive with 1000 euros a month, no need to get 2000 euros. Do not live a luxury life style free from time. Justice for ecology. Balance.

Use resources as much as you need. Food with good nutrition. One sexual partner. Shelter a house and clothes. But live life very simple.
