A clean space helps with a calm mind. We live in a crazy capitalist society in which we are learned by marketing that we always need more and the newest things.
Some questions to ask yourself to cut down on your clutter:
✦ Do you need the item?
✦ Have you used it in the last six months?
✦ Could you replace it easily if you needed to?
✦ Does it have sentimental value?
✦ Does it take up a lot of space?
✦ Is it irreplaceable?
Tip: find it difficult to declutter or get started? Ask a friend to help you in the weekend, make it a fun activity.
Tip: sell your previous items online (like Vinted for clothes) or give them away for free on a marketplace or the street. In The Netherlands there are several bookshelf’s where you can place items you do not need anymore. Also on FB marketplace there are people in need of a lot of things – you can make someone very happy.
